Nursing home coronavirus deaths skyrocketed throughout 2020 in one of the most terrible health debacles in our nation’s history. The coronavirus swept through long-term care facilities, killing more than 100,000 locals and workers. AARP Studios, in partnership with the AARP Bulletin, investigated what happened in the very first 18 weeks, in between late February and June 2020, when doubtful choices and unpredictable reactions let the circumstance escalate almost untreated during the critical early months of the coronavirus pandemic. This is the story of COVID-19 in retirement home, in the words of individuals who were there.
