Job Title Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Nursing Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Information Tenure Track Job Description The College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions at The University of Hartford invites applications for a full-time, tenure tack faculty, Assistant Professor position in our Nursing program beginning Fall 2021. Responsibilities We are seeking applicants whose teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the traditional pre-licensure BSN program and may include teaching in the RN to BSN and/or MSN program. There also will be opportunities to teach in our innovative, University Interdisciplinary Studies (UIS) curriculum. This is a ten (10) month appointment with rank and tenure commensurate with background and experience. Responsibilities also include evidence of scholarly pursuits/publication and service expectations to the Department and the University. Applicants should describe in their letter of intent how their teaching and/or scholarship, will advance their research agenda to support the profession and student research. Qualified candidates should include a description of how they will incorporate diversity into teaching, research, and/or service and to describe any particular expertise in curriculum development related to equity, diversity, and social justice in nursing. Required Qualifications The requirements for these positions include: Master’s degree in Nursing; Doctorate degree in nursing or related field preferred (Candidates enrolled in doctoral programs invited to apply), teaching experience in BSN or higher degree program preferred, an active license or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Connecticut, and clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Health and Physical Assessment, Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical-Surgical / Adult Nursing, Obstetrical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, The ideal candidate will also demonstrate evidence of commitment to scholarly endeavors and service in the profession. Interested applicants for this faculty position should include a short essay describing how their teaching practice meets the needs of the diverse population of students at the University of Hartford, focusing, in particular, on pedagogical approaches that support student success for those who are new to college and/or whose cultural background includes experience with systemic oppression due to race, gender, or other factors. If relevant, candidates should also comment on publication, presentations, or creative activity that will contribute to the diversity, equity and inclusion goals to which the University of Hartford is committed. It is recommended that candidates approach this statement thoughtfully and use specific examples to illustrate their diversity statement. This faculty member will collaborate with the Program Director, faculty, clinical partners and students. The faculty member will be also be responsible for course development and curriculum design and assessment to ensure compliance with all curricular content-related to the AACN Essentials of Baccalaureate Education and CCNE Standards. Candidates should also show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching and use a variety of teaching methods that prepare students for the NCLEX licensure exam.
