A fit and active sports trainer says she now has a hard time to climb a flight of stairs months after a believed coronavirus infection.
Mum-of-three Sarah Wakefield also states she experienced” brain fog “which was so bad she ‘d discover herself looking at one of her kids and believing “Which one are you?”
Prior to starting to reveal indications of the virus in March, Sarah said she was” extremely, extremely fit”, ran a mtb guide organization and worked as a watersports trainer. A typical working day utilized to include her riding a mtb up and down the Afan Valley for up to 5 hours.

A week after the very first lockdown began in March, Sarah said one of her children came home with “a bit of a cough” and Sarah then had “a week of headaches from hell”.
After her chest began to hurt and she established breathing problems, Sarah was prescribed numerous courses of antibiotics by her GP however she said they “didn’t work”.

Although long Covid is not yet an acknowledged and diagnosable medical condition, Sarah, the creator of a l ong Covid Wales support group, said the group has been accepted as a stakeholder in the formula of the National Institute for Health and Care Quality standards for the treatment of long Covid.

Together with the other members of her assistance group and their sister organisations throughout the UK, Sarah is calling for expert centres for the diagnosis and treatment of the condition.

” If a rehab centre told me to increase my exercise I may drop dead at the end of the road.
” We want individuals with post-Covid syndrome to be able to access the majority of the services they need– be that evaluation, medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation assistance– as close to house as possible or via remote services, only having to travel for more specialised services, which have to be offered in an intense health center setting.
