Schumer Utilizes COVID to Claim It's 'Necessary' for Senate to Hold Hearings for Biden's Cabinet Before He's Inaugurated

On this episode of “Never Let an Excellent Crisis Go to Waste,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer trotted out to the Senate floor on Monday to claim it “necessary” that the Senate start verification hearings for Joe Biden’s cabinet selects right away after the January 5 Senate runoff elections in Georgia– 2 weeks before Biden’s presumed inauguration.
Why the rush? Since, as the always-melodramatic senior senator from New york city stated:
” In the midst of this once-in-a-century crisis, it’s necessary the next administration can count on the Senate to validate its cabinet without hold-up.”
I don’t wish to waste time going through the history of crises in America over the last 100 years, but c’mon, Chuck. #TryHarder

Schumer noted that the Senate began hearings in early January for presidents-elect Obama and Trump– leaving out the fact that the elections of Barack Obama and Donald Trump had been accredited prior to the Senate leader of their particular celebrations required confirmation hearings to start prior to the inauguration.
So why would Schumer have a requirement to call for the hearings because they’ve occurred with the last 2 administrations?
Nonetheless, Schumer not only contacted the Senate to start verification hearings after the Georgia runoff elections; he torched Trump’s cabinet picks while doing so.
” President-elect Biden’s slate of nominees offers a plain contrast to the quality of candidates advanced by the current Trump administration over the last four years.
” The early days of the Trump presidency were specified by high-level visits of people who were manifestly unqualified, pestered by ethical complaints, or swimming in conflicts of interest– sometimes all 3.”
So Schumer thinks that tossing the whole of Trump’s four years of cabinet choices under the bus is going to assist him win support from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republicans how? Why he would not just be grandstanding for the electronic cameras?
” At the time, Republicans in the Senate lined up to validate President Trump’s appointments, Schumer continued, “arguing that a president deserves his cabinet in broad deference on his nominees.
” I would hope the exact same deference will be extended to president-elect Biden’s nominees, he included, before as soon as again having a going at Trump’s cabinet choices, “specifically considering the apparent gulf in quality, experience, [and] principles.”
I will not waste time defending great individuals like Dr. Ben Carson, Steve Mnuchin, Nikki Haley, Mike Pompeo, and others, however I will note the “quality” of a few of Biden’s selections.
That didn’t age well, did it?
Biden’s selection for director of the Office of Management and Budget is Neera Tandan, who in 2016 spread wild conspiracy theories about Russian vote-hackers, all the while rejecting that Hillary Clinton lost the election.
Successive, Biden’s choice for national security advisor, Jake Sullivan, was up to his eyebrows in the Hillary Clinton email scandal, and likewise pushed the thoroughly-discredited Russian “collusion” scam.
Finally– for now, that is– Biden tapped Phil Washington, CEO of LA City, the agency that runs Greater Los Angeles’s trains, trains, and buses, to lead his transportation shift team.
Hey, nobody’s best– right, Chucky?
#ProTip for Schumer: Return when Joe has his election accreditation card and then we’ll talk about it. Until then, sit.
