Mike Tomlin says Steelers keep QBs safe from COVID-- after NFL fined them for violating procedures

Mike Tomlin appeared to take a dig at the Broncos’ current quarterback troubles on Sunday. ESPN press reporter Brooke Pryor asked the Steelers coach if he ‘d put an emergency quarterback in a “bubble” to prevent Denver’s dilemma and ensure the team would always have one offered.

Tomlin’s action was telling.

Asked Mike Tomlin if they would put an emergency situation QB in a bubble to prevent a Denver scenario:

” No, because we work out all of the required preventative measures in terms of the quarterbacks we have.”

However here’s the thing: The NFL fined Pittsburgh in early November for violating the league’s coronavirus protocols. The team and Tomlin were fined $250,000 and $100,000, respectively, after Steelers coaches failed to wear face coverings at all times during their 28-24 win at Baltimore.

So, Tomlin’s response is a little hollow– specifically after starting running back and cancer survivor James Conner reportedly tested positive for COVID-19

Even still, Pittsburgh appears to have at least one quarterback who can take the field when the team faces Baltimore on Tuesday.
