Josh Wiener Work Related Injuries Among Certified Nursing Assistants Working in US Nursing Residence

Josh Wiener, Ph.D., Distinguished Fellow and program director of RTI International’s Aging, Special needs, and Long-Term Care Program describes an RTI research study, which was partly moneyed by the Retirement Research study Structure and released by RTI Press. The research study analyzes the predictors of work-related injuries among CNAs working in nursing homes.

The research study showed that licensed nursing assistants (CNAs) are an essential part of the long-term care workforce, but more than 60 percent of CNAs working in assisted living home experience job-related injuries. Aside from the influence on employees’ health, work-related injuries can negatively impact job fulfillment, add to task lacks and affect the overall quality of care offered by CNAs to more than 1.4 million assisted living home locals throughout the nation.
