Peace be to you all! I had the enjoyment of talking to Ms.Tammy Jones who is an extraordinary Qualified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at our medical facility. She has MANY years of experience and is an impressive expert! CNA s are trained to look after patients who require differing degrees of help with activities of day-to-day living (ADLs). This is usually due to debility secondary to age-related illness like dementia, in-born genetic disorders, or trauma. CNA s may be required to take essential indications, check glucose levels, and reposition bed-bound patiens to avoid decubitus ulcers. The job normally requires a minimum of a high school diploma and about a 4 to 12 week training program. Pay ranges from $10 to $ 25 per hour depending on setting and experience. There are programs discovered in neighborhood colleges and independently run schools (BE CAREFUL OF SCAMS!) throughout the country. CNA is a terrific method to quickly get direct-patient contact hours if you are intending on applying to Physician Assistant school. I worked as a CNA for 8 years in 90’s prior to applying to PA school. I would like to thank Ms.Tammy for taking her valuable time to inform us about this fantastic task!
